Northwest Harvest

The mission of Northwest Harvest is to provide nutritious food to hungry people statewide in a manner that respects their dignity, while fighting to eliminate hunger. Our vision is ample nutritious food is available to everyone in Washington State.

Northwest Harvest is committed to nutrition. As the state's first food bank distribution center to focus on fresh produce, Northwest Harvest has decades of experience in promoting healthy eating while reducing hunger.

Currently, our partners are providing over 677,000 food services each month in their communities. More than half of those we serve are children and the elderly—the populations most affected by a compromised diet. We know that nutrition matters. Northwest Harvest upholds higher nutrition standards by purchasing a greater share of our food, ensuring our supply of in-demand, nutritious products. We are unique in that highly nutritious fruits and vegetables consistently make up two-thirds of the food we distribute.

Northwest Harvest relies on your donations. All of our food and operating funds come from individuals, businesses, foundations and other organizations, and 93 percent of our total budget goes to food distribution.

Northwest Harvest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

We invite you to join us in feeding the hungry in the Pacific Northwest. Help today at: http://www.northwestharvest.org/donate.

Northwest Hope & Healing

Northwest Hope & Healing is a non-profit organization founded by Christine Smith in 2000. Christine created the foundation while undergoing breast cancer treatment at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Her goal was to help newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in the Puget Sound area.

The Patient Assistance Fund provides assistance for every day living expenses such as child care, groceries, reliable transportation, and emergency rent. In addition, signature “Healing Baskets” are assembled and delivered, at no charge, to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Please contact a Social Worker at Swedish for the qualification guidelines. The telephone number is 206-540-0477.

The goal of Northwest Hope & Healing is to assist women with the healing process so they may begin to feel whole once again. We assist women on their journeys and give them hope for the future.

DonorsChoose.org

DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need.

Here's how it works: public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class.

Then, you can browse project requests and give any amount to the one that inspires you. Once a project reaches its funding goal, we deliver the materials to the school.

You'll get photos of your project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. If you give over $50, you'll also receive hand-written thank-you letters from the students.

At DonorsChoose.org, you can give as little as $1 and get the same level of choice, transparency, and feedback that is traditionally reserved for someone who gives millions. We call it citizen philanthropy.

We invite you to join us in getting involved with DonorsChoose.org. Donate today at: http://DonorsChoose.org.
